Lucia Carpenter-Dean, M.D.'62 *

Lucia J. Carpenter Dean, M.D. (class of 1962) did her undergraduate premedical training at the University of Southern California, graduated with honors in 1958. After graduating from UCLA School of Medicine in 1962, she had a rotating internship through the Hospital of the Good Samaritan in Los Angeles. She decided to waive a residency program in order to begin private practice in Glendale, California, with her father in family medicine. In 1977 she became an American Board of Family Practice Diplomat. In 1975 she joined the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services and was the Chief Physician in charge of the Personal Health Services at the Canoga Park Health Center and Midvalley Comprehensive Health Care Center in Van Nuys, also serving as the District Health Officer for the West San Fernando Valley Health District. From 1980 to 1996 she was a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Family Medicine at UCLA School of Medicine.

After serving on the UCLA Medical Association Board of Trustees for 10 years, she became President of the UCLA MAA from 1996 to 1998.

She is currently retired and enjoying the beach!

Gelareh Z. Gabayan '99, M.D. '03

Gelareh Z. Gabayan obtained her medical degree from the UCLA School of Medicine in 2003 where she was the recipient of the SAEM Excellence in Emergency Medicine Award. She completed her medical training at the UCLA/Olive View-UCLA Emergency Medicine program where she served her final year as Chief Resident. She is currently a VA Health Services Fellow and is obtaining her Masters in Public Health with hopes of pursuing a leadership position in the health care delivery system.

 

Michael S. Levine, M.D. '80

Michael S. Levine MD graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Stanford University in 1976 and then received his MD from UCLA in 1980 with Alpha Omega Alpha honors. He completed his medicine residency at UCLA and then a pulmonary and critical care fellowship at UCSD in 1987. He has worked at UCLA since that time in private practice. Dr. Levine was instrumental in starting the UCLA Heart-Lung and Lung Transplant Program with Dr. Hillel Laks in 1988 and has served as president of the UCLA Clinical Faculty Association since 2000 and Chairman of Clinical Faculty Promotions at UCLA. He is currently Clinical Professor of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine.

Jeannine Rahimian received her MD from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and her MBA from The Anderson School of Management at UCLA in 2000.
