Class Scholar: 1955
Ryan Martin, Class of 2010
9 December 2007
Dear Class of 1955,
I want to sincerely thank you for your generosity. Your scholarship will lighten the financial burden of medical school and will help me continue my goal of becoming a medical doctor. Your partnership in reaching my goals is greatly appreciated.
I have enjoyed my first two years here at UCLA. I have made fantastic friends, have been enriched and intrigued by the phenomenal faculty, and have been touched by the few patients that I have seen. Academic medicine is the career that I plan to pursue, most likely in a surgical field. However, with my third year of medial school and the beginning of clinical rotations just on the horizon, I will maintain an open mind to all fields of medicine and will continue to pursue the fields that most intrigue me. Regardless of the field, academia will allow me to explore my interest in basic and clinical science and hopefully contribute to medical practice.
Thank you once again for contributing to my educational experience. Not only have you made my financial burden lighter, but also of my family's. My wife and my three-month old son have made significant sacrifices in allowing me to obtain a medical education and your financial help certainly lessens those sacrifices.
I look forward to meeting some of the members of the Class of 1955. Being one of the first classes at UCLA, you established a great tradition of excellence, a tradition that I and my classmates continually strive to meet.
Sincerely,
Ryan Martin
