Dear Class of 1961,

As the recipient of your class scholarship, I would like to offer my sincerest appreciation for your support. The award will help ease the financial burden for me, as I continue to further my education at UCLA.

Attending an amazing institution such as UCLA has given me vast opportunities to explore the field of medicine. This past year, I enjoyed listening to lectures from world-renowned professors, interviewing standardized patients, and appreciating the human body through anatomy. Outside of the classroom, I have been able to continue my interests in serving the underprivileged population as president of the Asian-Pacific American Medical Student Association. Through numerous health fairs, lecture series, and various projects, I am able to help share the importance of cultural competency and address the health disparities of my community.

I spent this past summer in the beautiful city of Chicago , using the skills I acquired thus far at UCLA to successfully examine patients and conduct a research project in ophthalmology. Regardless of what field I decide to go into, I know that UCLA and its community will give me the skills and confidence to achieve my ultimate goal of being a compassionate physician. I hope to continue to give back to the community and the students of UCLA, just like you have done for me.

During my undergraduate career at Stanford, I had to work in order to help pay for my education and thus recognize the value of your support and the free time to fully partake in everything UCLA has to offer. I welcome the opportunity to keep you informed of my adventures in medical school. Thank you again for your generosity, and I look forward to meeting members of the Class of 1961.

Sincerely,

Linda Huynh
